Working on a sock that is dorset X that I dyed and spun up just for this project. I actually wanted to see what the dorset would feel like knit into socks. It's kindy of sedgy feeling, and I don't think I'd like it next to my skin. But, for socks, it's great. I think it's going to be pretty hard wearing. Pretty colors too!

Really like the yarn you're using for the socks. And, the vest -- very impressive!
Thank you Robin. The sock yarn is hand-dyed, handspun dorset X.
Hi, Liz. I just stumbled across your blog today and am reading backwards. I love spinning down breed wool, but have yet to actually knit socks from any of my handspun. I have knit shawls and scarves, but not socks yet. I feel like I can't quite spin thin enough for socks I'd want to wear. I knit all of my socks from mill-spun sock yarn (and have for - EEK! - 15 yrs now). So I was quite pleased to see your dorset-x sock yarn. What gauge are you getting with your yarn? Is it more than 2ply? I've been busy spinning NZ romney roving lately for a shawl from VLT, so my cheviot and dorset roving has been waiting patiently in it's bin.
