Another shot of the sleeve on the body! I love knitting in natural cream! Especially cables. Can you see the difference? You can really make out the cables. And I've decided to make this a cardigan, and I am also going to attach the sleeves in the yoke method. Which is knitting the body, the two sleeves, attaching them all together and then decreasing the body as I go! I can't wait to see how this is going to turn out! Yeah! :) Later.... Posted by Picasa

This is the sleeve that I started today! Finally! I think that this will be close to finished by the time my DVD comes in the mail! It was back ordered! Hello! I mean, didn't they think everyone would want to see this? I ordered Bleak House from PBS.org, and it was back ordered and won't ship out until the 28th! So I have to wait in order to watch this and do the marathon on the last sleeve of the fair isle, and finish the rest of it! Soon people, very soon...... :) Posted by Picasa

Sorry haven't posted for days, but this weekend was crazy! And now I am paying for it! My body feels like I've been beat with a stick! But here is the lastest pic of the sweater body! I finished it on Saturday. Just started back knitting today. I hadn't been able to pick this up to start the sleeve at all this weekend. I felt like I was hardly home. Anyway, I think it's coming along nicely. And for some reason now I'm addicted to this! I think it's the cables. :) Posted by Picasa

This sheepfold pattern (from Elizabeth Zimmerman) is soo neat! I am really enjoying knitting it! The fishbone cable is also one of my favorites! I am thinking that this will be the back of the sweater. Especially since the cable is mirror imaged, and I didn't decide until just now that I think it would make a fantastic cardigan sweater. So.... onward I shall go...

I am also thinking that after tonight, I will be doing a marathon knitting session on the fair isle so that I can just finish it up. Get myself a nice long saga, or drama like Bleak House (Charles Dickinson) or Pride and Prejudice , or Anne of Green Gables & Anne of Avonlea. Now that one would be a good one considering it's 8 hours long! Will let you know what I decide! Later... :) Posted by Picasa

Here is another view of the cable. I am thinking more and more of making this a cardigan. I am really happy with this wool from Lions Brand. I (as a general rule) do not use Lion Brand yarn. Most of it is acrylic. This 100% virgin wool (Fisherman Wool) is very nice to work with. There are 465 yds. in a skein for $7.99. That is a great! buy! :) And it's soft.... Posted by Picasa

Here is a closeup shot of the aran sweater that I started yesterday and the beautiful 22 stitch cable that runs down the backside. If I decide to cut it open, it will run down the sides. The sheepfold cable will run down the back... Posted by Picasa

This was the inspiration for the newest project! Meg Swansens Wool Gathering from a couple of years ago. I finally feel confident to knit these cables in the round. I don't know that I will do the saddle sleeve shoulders necessarily, but I will use all of the cables in this newsletter. There is the 22 stitch main cable down the back, and the I am not making a cardigan, but a pullover. So I am running the 22 stitch cable down the front and the back middle section. And there is a Sheepsfold cable that is 12 stitches and there is the fishbone cable that is 9 stitches! Lovin it! I did no border besides just beginning the pattern. But I looked at the fair isle again and it's calling me! I am really looking forward to wearing that one! So I think this week I will finish it! Finally! Yeah! We'll see. This cabled sweater is fun! OK! :) Later..... Posted by Picasa

I had a couple of these skeins of Fishermans wool from Lion Brand yarn! It's very soft 100% virgin wool, and I like working with it. (besides it's affordable) This is a closeup of the cables and the wonderful Sheepsfold cable from Elizabeth Zimmerman. :) Posted by Picasa

Never fear, I did pick up the second sleeve of the fair isle. But alas, another new project was calling me. So I put it down for the day yesterday and started the newest project that I've been dwelling on for a couple of weeks. (what?) Posted by Picasa

Here is our newest neighbor Riley. Her and Sasha are giving each other kisses. Aren't they cuties? Posted by Picasa

And #3
I am very happy with the way the sleeve turned out. I did absolutely no shaping of this sleeve. I knit it straight to the cuff on the same amount of stitches that I picked up at the top of the armhole. At the cuff I K1, K2tog all the way around and decreased the amount of 110 picked up stitches by half which left me with 55 stitches. In order to have an even number of stitches to do 2x2 ribbing for the cuff I decreased down to 54 stitches! And it fits great! So now, onto the second sleeve! :) Posted by Picasa

NOT MUCH KNITTING TODAY!
My wonderful middle son (George) had his honors breakfast this morning for being on the honor roll for the second semester in school! Yeah Georgie! So my sister and I went to the breakfast this morning and enjoyed that ceremony. Which means, I didn't do much knitting today! Of course, for me the day is not nearly over. So, hopefully tonight I can get the rest of the sleeve done and the ribbing and start on the second one! I'm itching to do my newest project.

What is that? Well, I'm thinking of trying a sweater back and forth with the wonderful Twilight merino that I spun up the other week! Why? I don't know. Something different I guess. But usually I end up taking back and forth knitting out and cast it back onto the circs. I just can't get over the seemlessness of circular knitting and that you can knit an entire garment in less time!. Besides, I hate to sew up! Yuck! Until next post... :)

And here is the side view of the sleeve, over half way done! Hopefully tomorrow I will finish it and the ribbing, and start the second one! If I didn't take time to spin, I could be almost done, but alas, I just can't help myself. Plus, hey! The doctor said to spin everyday if I could to help keep my knees from hurting to much! So, there! I have a very valid excuse. :) Knit on.... (as Meg S. would say...) Posted by Picasa

Here is the sleeve stretched out, I did 3 pattern rows last night before I went to bed, at guess what time? 11:30!!!!!! Yes, I did! I slept really good too! I don't know why, but as soon as the evening news went off, I was so drowsy I just went to bed, and went right to sleep too! I usually start thinking about spinning or knitting and then I lay there for like an hour, and then I just get up and knit or spin. But last night was a first in like years, hello!~ Posted by Picasa

This is what I decided to do yesterday morning until early afternoon! This lovely chocolate/black romney is from Lisa Trumans stock of fibre in her barn! I got a pound of it from Charlotte Wolfe (who sells it for Lisa) and couldn't resist spinning up a hank of it to see what it will look like! I spun it a medium worsted weight. With a pound of it, I'll probably be able to make a nice long sweater/jacket with some splendidly lovely cables! And soft! I can't believe how soft it is.... but I did pick up the fair isle later last evening..... Posted by Picasa

And today's pic of the fair isle. Almost done with the body! I'm thinking that by tomorrow I will have the neck shaping and sew and cut it open by tomorrow afternoon! Yeah! The sleeves are the easiest because the pattern is already set, and so are the colors! And they are 1/3 of the size of the body! Until tomorrow.... Posted by Picasa

I just finished spinning this delicious brown romney this morning. Ready to set the twist! I don't know what I'll make out of this! I'm still working on the fair isle, and trying very hard not to start something else until I get that finished! Posted by Picasa
